B Sharp: A Co-Opera-Tive Collaboration, April 26, 2012

The Princeton Opera Company collaborated with the Undergraduate Composers’ Collective to create B Sharp, a program featuring the premieres of student-written works. The company paired together these musicians with poets from the Lewis Center for the Arts and one to twenty singers. The program included art songs, opera scenes, choral works, and a guest appearance by the Princeton Footnotes.

This Side of Princeton is a campus wide event that offers prefrosh to get a sampling of the arts at Princeton during preview week.

Art Walk: Opera at the Art Museum, March 2, 2012

Art Walk is a community-wide event in which over ten arts organizations collaborate to produce and showcase artistic endeavors. Princeton Opera Company was the featured performance at the Princeton University Art Museum, who co-sponsored the event. The performance featured arias and opera scenes including works by Bellini, Gluck, and Mozart. Opera at the Art Museum was attended by over 300 members of the greater Princeton community.

This is Princeton was a benefit concert for the rebuilding efforts in Nagasaki, Japan after the recent earthquake. The concert featured a number of campus performers including the Princeton Opera Company.

Mas­ter Class with Faith Esham, Feb­ru­ary 23, 2012

Princeton Opera Company welcomed renowned soprano Faith Esham to the Princeton campus, who debuted at the Metropolitan Opera as Marzelline in Fidelio and has continued singing at the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, La Scala, and other world-class opera houses. Ms. Esham has also won a Grammy for her performance of Micaela in the Gaumont film Carmen. Amer­i­can Opera, Decem­ber 9, 2011

Princeton Opera Company presented American Opera, a compilation of three short operas: A Hand of Bridge by Barber, Gallantry: A Soap Opera by Moore, and The Telephone by Menotti. The performance was held in Rocky College and was sponsored by USG Projects Board and the Lewis Center for the Arts.

An Evening of Arias and Art Songs, Novem­ber 17, 2011

The Princeton Opera Company sponsored its second annual solo repertoire concert featuring the pianists and singers of our undergraduate organization. The event took place in Rockefeller College and was sponsored by the Rocky College Office.

Mas­ter Class with Anthony Roth Costanzo, Sep­tem­ber 27, 2011

The Princeton Opera Company presented a Master Class with Anthony Roth Costanzo ’04, a countertenor currently best known for his interpretation of Prospero in The Enchanted Island at the Metropolitan Opera. The event featured six singers in Taplin Auditorium and was sponsored by the USG Projects Board.

2011 Tiger’s Night, September 12th, 2011

The Princeton Opera Company partook in the annual university tradition of welcoming incoming freshman with Tiger’s Night, a selection of performances by groups on campus.
